Malaysian Recognition for Russian Register

June 25, 2017

Malaysian energy group Petronas recognised the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) as a service provider for Condition Assessment Program (CAP) tanker vetting services.

Recognition was granted following a Petronas audit covering the procedural and regulatory requirements of the RS CAP against the charterer’s vetting standards and acceptance criteria from terminals.

CAP is a voluntary procedure commonly applicable to older tankers, involving the independent assessment of the vessel’s overall condition as based on examination of the in-service records review, close-up inspections of hull, machinery, systems, equipment, etc., along with tests, measurements and structural analysis. All findings are documented into a summary report that ranks vessels by CAP grades 1 (very good) to 4 (poor).
