German delegation acclaims NEVA success

September 21, 2017

A commercial mission to St Petersburg that brought 17 maritime industry companies from Germany's Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region to NEVA 2017, led by State Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, was "good, important and successful", according to an official statement.

The maritime economy has a long tradition in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is considered a central part of the regional economy. It includes ultra-modern shipyards, leading marine equipment suppliers, service providers, modern ports, and an extensive logistics industry.

The Prime Minister’s office reported that interest had been strong from both German and Russian parties in expanding economic, scientific and cultural cooperation. At the opening of the trade fair, Schwesig was welcomed by Russian Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov.
